A downloadable SNES game

Stomp on glorious Ernests and other enemies to pull off insane combos and get the highest score!

This is a SNES rom with the game K-fet Invaders, which I made with 2 friends for my school ENS Ulm!

Controls:

  • Start to start a game
  • Left and right to move
  • A/B/X/Y/L/R to stomp

Tips and Tricks [Spoilers I guess]:

Mice give more and more points as you kill them (first one is 1000, the second one 2000...)

The game gets harder and harder every 10k points as new ennemies get introduced (the maximum difficulty is achieved at 50k points though).

As I am writing this, noone has ever gotten the max score (which is 655 350), so if you manage to do it I will be happy to know. (be aware the score cycles back to 0 so you need to be precise!)

The rom can be played with any snes emulator (for example snes9x or bsnes)

You can also play it in this online emulator

The source code is available in scr.zip (although without the libs and the art), read it at your own risk as it is not my cleanest code ever lol.

Super SNES Homebrew game! A very great effort. Is it possible that you share the sourcecode? It would be great to learn from your code. I made my first step with PVSNESLIB  in 2021 :-)

Thanks!

I added the source code (although without the libs and the art), be aware it is not my cleanest code ever as it was my first time with pvsneslib haha!

Great. Thank you very much :)

Very nice, thank you for the game.
Is it done with PVSNESlib or with pure assembler?

Thank you! It is done with PVSNESlib, but it still involved a bit of assembler code haha.

Congratulations on your first SNES Release, no I idea how I missed out on that. I'll certainly review it!

Maybe you're interested in joining the upcoming SNES jam?

We need everyone who has the skills :)

Thanks! Looking forward to the review!

I may actually join the SNES jam, since developping a game for the hardware is super fun if you like retro gaming and low-level programming (I still don't understand how to export palettes from gimp though).

Also, for your review, please know that the game can be very fun once you get good at it but can be a bit brutal at the beginning (I tried to fix it but it is kind of inherent with the gameplay).

Also, know that there are 3 other ennemies that are unlocked once you reach 10k, 20k and 30k points.

And for the anecdote, the game is available at an arcade machine in my school and is performing like really really well (basically people play it every day and the record is at something like 400k points which I totally did not anticipate to be possible haha).

Arcade machine at your school? Sounds like a cool school :D
Would you mind sending me photos of this arcade machine or post them here?

Yeah i will send you one once I go to it so start of next week.

And I call it a school but it's more of an university (French study system is weird).

Waiting for the photos... waiting waiting waiting :D
